Experiential education

Tell me and I forget, show me and I see, let me try and I remember. Confucius

With help of mostly outdoor activities we position participants into various situations, in which they not only solve given tasks but also work with emotions and mutual relationships.
Such “emotionally coloured” experience is then much easier remembered and also recalled than listened or read information.
Process of learning at experiential trainings can be described in many ways. One of them is experiential learning cycle, also called Kolb’s cycle (1984)

  • Experience during activity
  • Awareness of what happened during activity
  • Evaluation of activity and generalization
  • Creation of plan of changes for further similar activities
  • Testing the plan on new activity

Important part of experiential education is feedback, which uses principles of experiential learning consequently after activity. Lecturer as a facilitator creates space for sharing of feelings and open discussion, which leads towards real understanding of causations and consequences of problematic situations.
Aim of these feedbacks is to shift of experiences into practical life.

Adventura Teambuilding uses restructured cycles of learning, so called Capek’s circles.
This modification was created according to long long-time experiences with different depth of feedback while fulfilling various projects targets.

To make the learning through experience meaningful, we use the method “challenge by choice”. Every participant is regulating the difficulty of task himself. Important factor during learning is voluntariness. Activities are appealing participants to act, but the level of participation is optional.
